Hi, I'm Macrina Gilliam and I co-presented -- along with Helene Blowers, Amanda Etches-Johnson and Mary Aukland -- at the Sunday, 10/19, pre-conference workshop, Project Management in Practice. You can access the PowerPoint demo and handouts for my part of the program at cmlpresentations.pbwiki.com. Just click on the Internet Librarian 2008 link. The demo and handouts explain the formal project management process that the Columbus Metropolitan Library now follows for all of their tactical projects.
A little bit about me: I have nearly 30 years' experience with the Columbus Metropolitan Library. I've worked in the Public Services Dept. at various branches and the central Main Library for most of that time, but was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to focus on my interest in technology by working as an Internet trainer for the library, back in the mid-nineties when the Internet was just getting into the mainstream. That position gave me my first crack at project management since I was charged with meeting the objectives of the grant that created the position. Recently, I gained much practical experience managing digital projects through my role as Virtual Branch Manager for CML, where I managed website redesigns of our main website and our kids', teens' and summer reading club sites. I am currently Applications Project Manager in our Digital Services Dept. of which Helene is the director.
If you have any questions about the project management program, you may contact me at mgilliam@columbuslibrary.org or macrinagp@gmail.com.
